Top strategies for stopping self-sabotage with ease!
Stopping Self-sabotage is actually possible. Yes, that is good news. The trick is that most of us aren’t even aware that we are self-sabotaging.
Our self-sabotage experiences are very unique to each one of us. We come from different backgrounds with very unique experiences and therefore these self-doubt behaviors or habits can manifest in a variety of ways.
Self-sabotage comes from our primal brain, it is actually normal! All of us have a way to self-sabotage, whether we want to admit it or not is a different story.
Here I want to share with you the definition of self-sabotage (so we can all have more clarity on what it is) as well as 3 specific strategies you can use to overcome it and really start living the life of your dreams!
What is self-sabotage?
According to Psychology Today – self-sabotage is a behavior that creates problems or interferes with long-standing goals. We behave in ways that don’t match what we think or say we are going to do, this is a perfect example of self-sabotage.
Let’s now move onto the three strategies that will help you overcome this behavior.
Strategy #1 – Create Awareness. First, we need to be aware that we are self-sabotaging in order to be able to look at how we can change those behaviors. A perfect example in my life is for me to fill my to-do list with so much I end up taking care of everything else except what I was meant to be doing. Start with journaling or looking into your daily routine and see how your choices may be INTERFERING with your goals.
Strategy #2 – Build up your Faith and Trust game – and by faith and trust I am not talking about some religious practice, what I am talking about here is building self-confidence in the form of faith and trust. The great news is that these can be learned! Yes, you can become a master at having faith and trusting yourself. One way you can build more trust and faith is by reprogramming your mind. You can read on how to do that here.
Strategy #3 – Start Small – meaning, you want to get started with small actions, creating new habits that are sustainable. Why is this key to stopping self-sabotage? Because when you match thought with physical action, you are actually changing old paradigms. I love how Dr. Nicole LePera explains this as “keeping small promises with yourself”. It will build your trust and faith muscle, create awareness and move you closer and closer to your goals!!!
I hope you put these strategies into practice to help you overcome self-sabotage. And if you are asking yourself “Ok, what’s next?” then I invite you to book a 1:1 mentoring session with me. Click here to see which times work with your schedule.
